Gravity Die Casting This Die casting process is suitable for Aluminium Alloys. Metal Dies with all its jigs and fixtures, movement mechanism, working table etc. have to be designed and die development is done. Once initial solutions to the problems/corrections/modifications is done, it becomes  easy for faster production – giving consistent results in good surface finish, dimensional variations and material properties. Metal  dies if made from suitable correct material gives longer life – thus cost per piece gets reduced. Normal casting defects occurring in sand/hand molding are eliminated/reduced giving better quality. Metallurgically too, grain fineness is achieved. Limitations High cost of die development. Longer development time. Economical for large quantity order only. Requires semiskilled operators. Higher investments in large size holding furnace. Close control over temperature of metal, die and melting atmosphere required.
